How wonderful to hear from you that the members of Woodside Park Synagogue have raised yet another £2,000 for Gan Hayeled.
These funds will help to cover the cost of our summer holiday camps which will be held during the school vacation, in the month of August.
The activities will be specifically designed for autistic children and children with different levels of mental retardation.
A seven hour day will be packed with fun activities which will provide a source of joy and happiness to these special children.
Your generous donation, received earlier this year, covered all the costs of the holiday camp which took place during the Passover school vacation.
40 children (identified to be moderately retarded) took part in this camp. A variety of activities were arranged for them, including: a trip to the zoo, participation in a drumming workshop, a magician's show, sport activities, learning how to prepare healthy food during a cookery day.
The highlight of the outings was a visit to the Japanese Museum with specially designed activities provided throughout the day.
At the museum, they learnt how to wear Japanese traditional dress, how to dance wearing the outfits and how to make a Japanese mask. This was a totally thrilling day.
The children were ecstatic - without your donation, these children would have remained at home for the entire school vacation!
Please share the attached photos with all our friends at the synagogue. If you would like me to send any of them in a larger format, please don't hesitate to ask.
With a huge thank you to all of you at Woodside Park Synagogue, from all of us here at Gan Hayeled,
Tami

A letter of thanks from Gan Hayeled
We would like to take this opportunity to send our best greetings to you and the members of Woodside Park Synagogue
and your families at this special time of Passover, and to thank you for your support of Gan Hayeled's activities.
Your support provides a pleasant and supportive atmosphere for these special children, and helps us to develop and improve their mental, social and physical skills.
The funds that we received from the Woodside Park Synagogue enabled us to organize a five day camp, which will start on the 1st of April. The majority of the 40 participants
suffers from mild retardation and from Down syndrome and has no other suitable options for their needs where they can enjoy their Passover vacation.
We appreciate your help for the disadvantaged, and we hope that some time over the summer a member of your committee will be able to visit us here at Gan Hayeled.
Wishing you and your families a happy Passover,
The children, the staff, and the Board of Gan Hayeled, Haifa.
A letter of thanks from Shikum Acher
I'm so glad to hear that the events went as planned. I again want to express my deepest appreciation for your fundraising efforts and spreading the word about our organization.
Your activities are greatly valued and help promote the lives of so many people struggling with emotional disabilities and help them adapt into the open labor market.
Everything is going well here with us in Israel. We are presently working hard at establishing Shikum Acher's store that will be located in central Tel Aviv and will be operated by the special needs population, selling products from our factory and other Israeli designer goods. This is a new and innovative project that I hope will inspire similar projects in the future.
I've also been working very hard in order to advance all the other important projects that we are working on. It is great to come across good people along the way, like you and the congregation of Woodside Park Synagogue, that will help us reach our important goals.
A letter of thanks from the children of Gan Hayeled
On behalf of the children of Gan Hayeled and especially their parents,
we would like to thank you and the members of Woodside Park Synagogue for your generous donation of £ 1,800, which was transferred to our bank account by Myisrael.
The funds will be used to organise a holiday camp for 30 children during the Passover vacation.
We have started to plan the Passover holiday Camp which will start on the 1st of April 2012,and will enable the children to enjoy a variety of social and fun activities during their vacation.
We will of course be glad to send you a detailed report with pictures of the activities.
The knowledge that you and your friends are so committed to helping us in this never ending challenge of providing moments of joy for these wonderful children reminds us that we are not alone.
G-d bless you all.

'I am delighted to report on our 3rd annual golf day which took place at North Middlesex Golf Club in Friern Barnet. Oh what joy to have the sun shine down on us for the first time in which we have held our tournament as I was beginning to think that our Rabbi's middle name was Noah. The only similarity was that playing at the back of the field felt like we were out on the course for 40 days & nights. This year I am pleased to say that we were joined by the Stanmore community and whilst they were few in number I hope they will spread the good word and that next year they will bolster their player numbers.
Whilst the golf club is virtually on our doorstep few of us golfers have ever played there so it was a great treat when Harry Bernstein, who is a member, agreed to help organise for us to play the course. It was indeed a good challenge and we were treated by the Manager and his staff with great warmth and they could not do enough for us. After 10 holes played Michael Smith kindly treated us to drinks which were most welcome on one of those rare hot days. There were 28 participants this year and all of us together with Rabbi Hackenbroch had a fantastic time and we followed the event up with dinner in the Wiseman Linden hall provided by Manna Caterers. My thanks also to our golf hole sponsors and I will not embarrass them by naming them individually. We had 5 lady participants all of whom deserved and received a prize as did the eventual tournament winners Brian Simons, Jeffrey Stone, Stephen Simons and Keith Leslie so congratulations to them all and indeed to everyone who participated especially my helpers Debbie Miller & Caroline Lyons.'
