Tabitha Goldman, age 10 reports from the Shlock Rock Concert
On the 26th of March, after Shabbat, a very special band called Shlock Rock came and performed in front of some of the community. They kicked off the show with their most well known song: 'We've got a strong desire', which raps about our history, from Adam and Eve to after the Holocaust. Other songs include a reworded version of 'Master of the house' from Les Miserables and 'Minyan Man', which tells the story of how Eytan (a band member) finds a group of men who used to be a Minyan but one of them died. During some songs everyone danced, on others they waved their hands, and for some, we sat there, just listening. The whole evening was fabulous and I think we all enjoyed it very much. We are all very grateful to Shlock Rock for coming to perform for us and for everyone who helped organise the night.
Watch below a video of Shlock Rock playing to a packed Woodside Park Community.
Shlock Rock is a Jewish Rock Band that teaches Jewish ideas through music using song parodies, original music in both English and Hebrew and children's songs. Lenny Solomon started the ball rolling in 1986 and since then the band has released more than 30 amazing albums! Shlock Rock has gone where no Jewish bands have gone before: Trivial Pursuit, Imus in the Morning, Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, and Entertainment Tonite.
The band has changed over the years but the contribution of these original Shlock Rockers is duly noted in the Shlock Rock Hall of Fame.
