SQUADS for Boys

The Squads at Woodside Park are informal educational groups for boys which meet every other shabbat morning from 9.45am to 10.30am, before the Youth or Childrens services.

By educating the boys in leyning, leading the Shabbat services and other areas, the groups aim to make them participants rather than observers in shul, and hence to retain them after their barmitzvahs.

Youth Squad is a revolutionary new concept in youth services for boys and girls of secondary school age on Shabbat mornings at 10:00am. Once a month the Squad will run the youth service, honing the leyning and davening skills learned on earlier squads.

New Leining Squad Starting 28 April 2012 for boys in years 4 and 5

Do you like having fun? Do you want to learn how to read fromthe Torah?
If the answer to any of these questions is yes then you should sign up to Leining Squad. The transfer window is open and the new season will be starting on 28th April. sessions will be from 10 am to 10.30 am every other Shabbat.

All squad members will receive exclusive squad merchandise and individual training in a fun environment. Contact Jonathan Cantor by emailing youngfamilies@woodsidepark.org.uk to sign up for the squad and for further training

New Anim Zemirot Squad Starting 31 March 2012 for boys in years 2 and 3

The Squad will give the boys a chance to learn a new skill and to gain confidence in performing whilst having lots of fun and building up friendships.

We're assuming the boys can read Hebrew but obviously aren't expecting enormous fluency.

The Squad will start at 10am on a Shabbat morning, last 30 mins, and take place roughly every two weeks. The first Squad session will be on 31 March.

The kids will be eligible for the highly coveted 2012 Squad kippa (when this kit is issued) and possibly other Squad gear too.....

Tefillah Squad 2012 Kicks Off

Today, shabbat 11th February sees the first training session of our very latest Squad, Tefillah Squad 2012. Thirteen boys from school years 6 and 7 willl learn to lead the shabbat morning musaf service in preparation for joining the Youth Service.

Most of the team are seasoned players, having previously completed Anim Zemirot Squad and Leining Squad.
